A travel agency is a business that sells travel related products and services, particularly package tours, to end-user customers on behalf of third party travel suppliers, such as airlines, hotels, tour companies, and cruise lines. In addition to dealing with ordinary tourists, most travel agents have a special department devoted to travel arrangements for business travelers, while some agencies specialize in commercial and business travelers. Some agencies also serve as general service agents for foreign travel companies in different countries.

Planning a vacation abroad can be difficult so its best to find a travel agent to guide you from start to finish. Even if you want to travel within your own country, it is always best to speak to those who are familiar with transportation, lodging, costs and also able to guide you.

2. Have a look at the travel agent's website (if they have one).
3. Have a walk past and have a look at the interior and exterior of the store.
4. Make a short list of your favorite so far and give them a call. Cross any travel agents off the list that are not willing to listen or who don't answer your questions properly.
5. Note that if you still haven't selected a travel agent, choose the one from your list that has the most years of experience, cheapest deals and is the most helpful.
