Malaysia, Langkawi Pulau Tuba Homestay Program


There are currently four villages participating in the homestay program - Pulau Tuba, Kampung Wang Tok Rendong, Kampung Sungai Itau and Kampung Bukit Tangga. The villages offer a number of 90 rooms for the homestay program.

If you participate in the homestay program, you'd have the chance to stay with fisherman and farmers of this legendary island, and could see closely their daily routines, Malays' cultures and traditions, and other unique attractions.

Pulau Tuba is one among the 3 islands in Langkawi that is inhibited by people. This island occupies an area of about 20 square kilometre and consist of 5 fishing villages. Pulau Tuba is also known as "Pulau Islam" as all of its 3000 people are Muslims.



Getting to Pulau Tuba

The main route to Pulau Tuba starts at Kedah Cement Jetty in Kuah, Langkawi and ended up at Telok Puyoh, the main entrance to Pulau Tuba, a distance of 5 nautical km from Kuah. From Kuah, Langkawi, two types of transportation are available specifically speed boat (fibre-glass ) and normal passenger boats (modified fishing boats). Speed boats are meant for chartered services only. Chartered boat service are available at any time of the day. For a normal passenger boat, adults are charge RM 6.00 per person and RM3.00 for children. The boat ride will take a time of 25 minutes.

From Telok Puyoh, you can hire car and motorcyle (RM2-RM3) to explore the island.
